United Artists Picks Up First Movie
Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise to star in Lions for Lambs.
UA, which came under the direction of Tom Cruise and his production partner two weeks ago, has decided what its first package will be -- Lions for Lambs.
The drama is set around Afghanistan and is to be directed by and starring Robert Redford. Cruise will appear in the movie along with Meryl Streep. It will be Cruise's first acting gig since Mission Impossible III, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, the story focuses on a U.S. professor (Redford) with two students in Afghanistan. Cruise will play a U.S. Senator.
"I'm the investigative reporter on (Cruise's) ass," confirmed Streep to the Reporter.
Production is expected to begin at the end of January, with the movie to be released in late 2007.
