University of Maryland Cancels Porn Film
According to Entertainment Weekly, students at the University of Maryland were refused a screening of the pornographic film "Pirates II: Scagnetti's Revenge."
The student union of the University of Maryland had to cancel the screening after the school's administration was getting heat from state lawmakers.
State Senator Andrew Harris (R), said, "Occasional viewing of porn is more dangerous than occasionally lighting up a cigarette."
Harris and other lawmakers were threatening to pull the school's funding if the showing went on as originally planned.
The same film was shown to 850 students at UCLA, and a question and answer period with the film's creators was scheduled as well.
Students at University of Maryland had also tapped a representative of Planned Parenthood to speak to the audience about safe sex.
