USA Network re-ignites Burn Notice' while Fox continues to Lie'
USA Network has chosen to renew its action drama series "Burn Notice" for a fourth season while the back-nine episodes of the Fox crime drama "Lie to Me" have been picked up.According to an article on Variety.com, "'Burn Notice,' which stars Jeffrey Donovan as a Miami-based spy, was a key driver of USA's strong perf this summer. Cabler ran nine episodes and will air the remaining seven in January. USA's fourth-season order for Fox Television Studios series comes on the heels of Monday's fifth-season pickup for Psych.'"Meanwhile, Fox's choice to renew "Lie" comes as no surprise despite its sophomore season's slow start. It gained momentum with "American Idol" as its lead-in and improved even further when it was moved to Mondays at 9 p.m. behind "House."Besides enduring a stilted beginning and a time slot switch this season, "Lie's" showrunner, Shawn Ryan, who was also the executive producer on the FX Network's crime drama "The Shield" as well as the CBS action drama series "The Unit," chose to leave, which caused "Lie's" creator Samuel Baum to step up to the vacated post.
"Lie" follows Dr. Carl Lightman, who is played by Tim Roth, who starred in the 2008 Edward Norton/Liv Tyler actioner "The Incredible Hulk" and his associates as they assist police and other law enforcement agencies in solving crimes by utilizing their expertise in applied psychology, body language and the FaciaLAction Coding System (FACS,) which classifies human facial expressions.
