Users Can See Their Own Songs on 'Rock Band'

A new feature will allow users to turn their songs into playable songs for the game.

A new feature for "Rock Band" will allow artists to create and upload their songs for possible use in the game.

The Rock Band Network lets users upload and submit tracks for review by the community and will open up to a public beta test in August. Approved tracks will be made available in the Rock Band Store and artists will get a portion of each purchase.

Harmonix and MTV Games, creators of the Rock Band Network, say participating artists will be able to price individual tracks according to multiple pricing levels and will get paid royalties accordingly.

Songs must first undergo play-testing at Creators.RockBand.com, a site available to premium members of Microsoft's XNA Creators Club Online at a cost of $49.99 for four months or $99.99 for a year.

"Our goal with 'Rock Band' has always been to go beyond making music games and create a true music platform," said CEO and co-founder of Harmonix Alex Rigopulos in a statement. Fall 2009 will also bring about "Rock Band's" Beatles game. It's due September 9th.
