Usher Cleans Up at AMAs

R&B star Usher wins four awards, beating out Outkast

Sexy R&B sensation Usher was the king of the American Music Awards Sunday night-- taking home four awards including Favorite Male Artist in the Pop/rock and Soul/R&B categories, as well as Best Album in both the Pop/rock and Soul/R&B categories. Usher beat out hip-hop duo Outkast's three awards, which included Favorite Artist in the Rap/hip-hop and Pop/rock categories as well as Best Album in Rap/hip-hop. The Best New Artist Award went to county music singer Gretchen Wilson, a controversial decision. Hip-hop artist Kanye West was predicted to win the award, and when he lost, the obviously upset West remarked, "I feel like I was definitely robbed."

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel hosted the show that included performances from Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Pharrell, Maroon 5, Snoop Dog, John Mayer and Lenny Kravitz. Other winners included Sheryl Crow with two awards, Alicia Keys, Linkin Park and Jay-Z each with one award.
