'Vampire Diaries', 'Melrose Place Picked Up for Another Season
The Vampire Diaries, the CW's smash hit show, has been picked up for a full season. "Melrose Place" on the other hand is not so much of a hit, but had five additional episodes picked up regardless, reports Reuters.com
'Diaries' is produced by screenwriter Kevin Williamson of 'Scream' fame and smashed records with its debut --scoring the highest ratings for any CW premiere, ever. Not only that, but over the passing weeks the audience has increased and averages a stunning 4.5 million viewers--a sizable audience for a not so sizable network.
'Vampire Diaries' tells of teenage vampires and the drama that ensues in their lives. No relation to 'Twilight'.
'Melrose Place', in contrast, attracts generally only 2 million viewers according to Reuters.com. Heather Locklear has recently joined the show which may have something to do with the network giving the series, a re-make of the original Fox series, which aired from 1992 to 1999.
