Venice Biennale Opens

Italian museum reopens

An antiquated and well-respected art museum has recently been reopened in Italy. Its name is the Venice Biennale, and it is known as the world's oldest museum that displays contemporary art, according to BBC News.

The Venice Biennale was first opened in 1895 to commemorate recent achievements in artwork and now houses exhibitions from artists around the country and throughout Europe. Many hope of winning the top prize which is titled "The Golden Lion." Museum curator Tirdad Zolghadr says that the recent exhibition is a way for artists to realize the seriousness of their hard work. Swedish curator Daniel Birnbaum has said the museum has been restored so that people may discuss the relevance of such an important landmark.

The Boston Globe reports that despite all of the drops in sales due to the recession, the Venice Biennale is still making quite good business.
