Verizon takes on Apple's iPhone

Verizon Wireless is set to release a competitor to Apple's much touted iPhone.

Verizon Wireless is attempting to rival Apple's iPhone with the release of its own touch-screen phone.

According to CNNMoney.com, "The LG Voyager...boasts a slew of multimedia features. Music player, live television and a two-megapixel camera...The Voyager also is the first Verizon Wireless consumer phone to include a full web browser." Unlike the iPhone, the Voyager also comes equipped with a full keyboard and a fast Internet connection. In addition, the LG Voyager's screen is as large as the iPhone's but the iPhone is the only one that is compatible with Apple's popular iTunes software while the Voyager has access to Verizon's wireless music store. Also, some iPhone users have complained that tthe iPhone's touch pad is extremely sensitive whereas the Voyager has a keyboard that folds out lengthwise.

Verizon Wireless says the LG Voyager along with three other phones are set to be released by Thanksgiving and its price has yet to be disclosed.

In response to the idea of the Voyager being an "iPhone killer," "We don't look at any one device and say 'this is it'," said Verizon spokesman Ken Muche.
