VH1's New Show Has a Full Season Online
What ever happened to watching TV shows on an actual television? More and more shows are venturing toward an online format, along with their standard network air time. This phenomenon, that started last year, allows fans to watch episodes of their favorite shows online the day after it premieres on television, and it has revolutionized the way we watch TV.
VH1 is going to premiere an entire season of the new show "I Hate My 30s" online, starting on Monday, July 16. That is ten days before it makes its appearance on TV screens. VH1 partnered with Joost to bring the fans the show earlier and at their convenience. "This is exactly the kind of partnership we would like to have with content owners," commented Yvette Alberdingk Thijm, Joost's executive vice president of content strategy and acquisition. "We see this as Phase 2 in creating value with content owners." Joost was created by Niklas Zennstr÷m and Janus Friis, the same team that created Skype and Kazaa. They have about 500,000 users and strive to increase content partnerships to better the service.
