Video Game Creator Happy To Be Portrayed By DiCaprio

Atari creator beat the odds and made video games a viable industry.

Nolan Bushnell, original founder of Atari says he is honored that Leonardo DiCaprio will be playing him in an upcoming film about his life, CVG reports.

Paramount Pictures picked up the project earlier this week and news of the DiCaprio casting soon followed.

"There's been a lot of books [about Atari], some correct, some incorrect. I've kind of gotten used to being portrayed by others. I kind of thought that this [a movie] might happen. I kind of thought that it wouldn't happen until maybe after I was in the ground for a little while," Bushnell revealed.

But now it seems much of his skepticism has evaporated and on the film and the casting Bushnell remarked: "I'm very, very thrilled and honored."

Craig Sherman and Brian Hecker will be the scribes behind the film, which is currently lacking a director. Bushnell is also pleased with this behind the scenes duo as well. "I felt that these guy got it in a very, very real way and [knew] what Atari stood for," he praised.

Bushnell also added that when Atari first came out "Nobody thought that video games represented a business. That's the part that I think a lot of people don't understand; if you really work it, you can turn your dream into a reality."
