Videos, Pictures of Protests In Iran Leak to Web
Despite efforts from the Iranian government to prevent video from leaking to the public, one has made its way to YouTube
Protests that began in Iran approximately six months ago as a result of an incredibly controversial presidential election have become more intense than ever before and an amateur video was unveiled over the weekend that captured footage from an incredibly violent protest. CNN.com is reporting that anti-government protestors confronted authorities who were sent by the Iranian government to combat them. Video of the protest that occurred on Sunday has leaked to YouTube and it shows a group of protesters cornering several policemen in a symbolic act of defiance.
One of the protester’s is shown verbally berating the lone police officer who had his helmet off, screaming, “Why are you doing this?” before the officer responded by saying, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” as other officers were trapped in a corner. The protester followed up his question by making a statement that was symbolic of the rapidly intensifying growth of the opposition movement; demanding the police officers to describe Ayatollah Khamenei as a bastard.
According to CNN.com, the violent nature of the anti-government protests is an indication that the opposition movement shows no signs of slowing down. Photographs and video footage that was captured from Sunday’s incident show protesters with their faces covered in blood as a result of measures that were taken by the militia of the Iranian government.
