The View's Elisabeth Hasselbeck Accused of Plagiarism
The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being sued by a woman in Massachusetts over copyright infringement, claiming that Hasselbeck plagiarized her idea for a book about celiac disease, the Associated Press reports.
Self-published author Susan Hasset filed a federal lawsuit in Boston alleging that Hasselbeck's new book, "The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide," infringed on her copyrights for her book, "Living with Celiac Disease," even copying some of the content "word for word."
According to Fox News, Hasset says she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her book in April of last year along with a homemade cooking video, a business card, personal note and newspaper clipping. Hasselbeck's book wasn't published until last month.
Hasselbeck was recently diagnosed with celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disorder linked to gluten proteins in wheat, barley and rye. She said she discovered she suffered from celiac disease after returning from a "Survivor" show taping in Australia, where she hadn't eaten the same foods as she normally does in the U.S., the Boston Herald reports.
Hasselbeck has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
