Vince Vaughn to star in Ron Howard pic about infidelity

“Four Christmases” star Vince Vaughn’s next project will be starring in a Universal pic, which will be helmed by Ron Howard that centers on the sinful act of infidelity.

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “The story follows a man who learns that his best friend's wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge.”

The idea surfaced from Vaughn’s brainchild along with Imagine Entertainment founder Brian Grazer. Allan Loeb wrote the currently untitled script, which will begin filming in the spring. Loeb’s writing credits include the 2007 Halle Berry/Benicio Del Toro/David Duchovny drama “Things We Lost in the Fire” as well as the screenplay for the 2008 Kevin Spacey/Kate Bosworth/Laurence Fishburne drama “21.”

Both Vaughn and Grazer will act as the motion picture’s producers.

The HollywoodReporter.com article goes on to say that, “The project is said to continue Vaughn's interest of tackling the dark areas of relationships, which he did with ‘The Break-Up’ and, to a lesser extent, ‘Couples Retreat,’ which ended up leaving its darker moments on the editing room floor. The script is said to walk a fine line of being comedy and drama, much like ‘Break-Up’ did.’”

Vaughn’s other film credits include the 2005 Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie action romantic comedy “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” the 2005 romantic comedy “Wedding Crashers” opposite Owen Wilson and Christopher Walken and the 2007 family comedy “Fred Claus” opposite Paul Giamatti and Rachel Weisz.
