Vince Young Named Starter
The 0-6 Tennessee Titans are benching quarterback Kerry Collins and naming Vince Young the starting quarterback, reportsESPN.
Head coach Jeff Fisher announced the move Thursday, which comes as little surprise since the Titans' owner, Bud Adams, has been clamoring for Young to start.
The Titans are coming off their bye week. On October 18, they were defeated 59-0 by the New England Patriots.
Young was drafted by the Titans out of Texas with the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft as a successor to quarterback Steve McNair, states USA Today.
He led the Titans to an 8-8 record his rookie year and was named 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Last season, Young injured his knee in a loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Collins took over the starting spot for the remainder of the year.
