(L-R) Actresses Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Emma Stone and director Tate Taylor attend the 'Criadas y Senoras' (The Help) photocall at the Hesperia Hotel on October 3, 2011 in Madrid, Spain.

The Help has had quite the run, as it has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture as well as received Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nods for Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, respectively.

Davis has spoken out about the feat, giving credit to everyone involved.

“It’s such an ensemble piece – you know, people forget in our business,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s a collaborative art — you can’t create it in a room by yourself. It takes other actors, a director. It’s literally a boatload of artists [creating] a singular affect. That’s what we did. It was truly an ensemble.”

But when it comes to her stiff competition, such as Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady, she said she just can’t let her mind take up thoughts about it.

”It would drive me crazy to think about that on a day-to-day basis,” she explained. “Especially when you have a life — a husband, a kid, a life — to fill every day with. Who is going to win, how many votes will we get, and what do the pundits say, and where are we right now… I can’t do it. I need my sanity.”

Surprised at the film’s director, Tate Taylor, getting a nod, Davis said it’s just “the nature of the beast.”

She also said of The Help, “We all knew it was really an important piece. If you look at the landscape of what’s out there, there’s no other movie like it or looks like it. It truly is, I always say, an American movie.”

As for her co-star, Ocatavia Spencer, she is saying that the film has “changed my view of the world and my role in the world.”

She told The Los Angeles Times, "It was only a small balloon. The accolades are wonderful but I’m more impressed that this little movie that started out with a group of friends trying to make an independent film has turned into a phenomenon. It’s about the underdogs and it’s grabbing people’s heart strings.”
