Wahlberg and Ferrell Make B-Team?
Sony has recently picked up The B Team. According to Variety, the comedy, which is set to star Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, was pitched all around Hollywood and immediately picked up by the studio. The script will be written by Adam McKay and Chris Henchy.
This is not the first time studios have jumped on board of a Ferrell-McKay project. Past projects, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, were approached the same way. Columbia decided to pick up the projects without a finished script, based on the involvement of Ferrell and McKay.
Wahlberg's involvement is likely due to Henchy, who was a co-executive producer on hit HBO show Entourage, of which Wahlberg is an executive producer.
Henchy co-wrote the screenplay for upcoming Ferrell comedy Land of the Lost, due to be released this summer.
The film will be directed by McKay, who first gained recognition as Saturday Night Live's head writer, then as director of Anchorman.
Similarly titled The A Team is set to be produced at 20th Century Fox with Smoking Aces director Joe Carnahan at its helm. This could possibly mean a name change for the action-comedy.
