Wahlberg to Star in Shyamalan's Next Flick

Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg has just announced that he will star in M. Night Shyamalan's next project, The Happening.

Wahlberg will play the part of Elliot Moore, a "science teacher at the center of an apocalyptic event that threatens all of humanity" in this $57 million development.

Shyamalan wrote and will produce the film with Barry Mendel and Sam Mercer, who are known for producing Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense.

M. Night Shyamalan's previous film, Lady in the Water, was a financial flop and he will look to rebound with The Happening. This marks Shyamalan's first film, working with Twentieth Century Fox.

Mark Wahlberg, who recently received an Oscar nomination for his part in The Departed, seems to be the hot actor in Hollywood right now. Wahlberg had recently just signed to star in Darren Aronofsky's Fighter for Paramount. The Happening is scheduled to start shooting in August in Philadelphia.
