War Over "Watchmen" Movie May Mean Delay

The movie may not be out in March of 2009.

Bad news for fans eagerly anticipating the release of the movie, The Watchmen, as the New York Times says that the legal battle between 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. continues as they can't seem to agree on a trial date for the film.

"The report also outlined conflicting requests for a trial date: as early as next June, if Fox has its way, or April, if Warner prevails," wrote the New York Times.

What this means for fans is that the original plan Fox apparently had to release the film on March 6, 2009 may not happen. With these new trial dates, the movie could be out next summer or even kept and released to theaters in 2010.

The film will be adapted from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's comic, Watchmen. It will involve a group of superheroes in 1985's America who must try to save humanity while also keeping the reputations of all their fellow past and present superheroes safe from a conspiracy.

The film will be directed by Zack Snyder (300), with a script by David Hayter and Alex Tse. The superheroes will be played by Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Patrick Wilson and Carla Gugino.
