Warner Bros. announced the release date for Trouble with the Curve, a baseball drama that will feature Clint Eastwood in his first role in front of the camera since 2008’s Gran Torino. The film, which also stars Amy Adams, will hit theaters on Sept. 28.
According to Deadline, the film is the directing debut for Robert Lorenz, who is a partner in Eastwood’s Malpaso Productions.
ComingSoon.net reports that Eastwood will play a baseball scout who takes his daughter, played by Adams, on one final road trip.
Trouble with the Curve is still in its very early stages. According to Collider, many of Eastwood and Adams’ co-stars have yet to be cast. Sandra Bullock was reportedly considered for Adams’ role until The Muppets star was confirmed earlier this month. Joe Massingill and Matthew Lillard have also reportedly been in talks for parts, with Massingill possibly being cast as an Atlanta player that Eastwood’s character has his eye on.
Sept. 28 is going to be a busy day at the box office, with other major films already slated for that date. Sony’s science fiction film Looper, Universal’s Savages from director Oliver Stone and Fox’s Won’t Back Down will all hit theaters on the same day. Collider reports that Looper stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, while Benicio Del Toro and Blake Lively star in Savages. Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal star in Won’t Back Down.
Warner Bros. also noted that they will release an IMAX documentary called The Arctic 3D on April 20.
