Wedding Video Makes Grand Entrance on the Web
Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson didn't walk down the aisle at their weddingthey danced. While the wedding guests got to witness the spectacle in person, millions of people are now catching more than a glimpse of it all over the Internet.
In the YouTube video, Heinz and Peterson's bridal party can be found taking turns twirling around and shaking their hips to singer Chris Brown's "Forever." After several minutes of strutting their stuff, the bridesmaids and groomsmen clear a path for the 28-year-old Heinz to emerge, somersaulting his way up to the altar. Peterson, also 28, followed up her husband's acrobatic stunt with a solo dance performance, showing off her moves down the entire length of the aisle.
Since the Minnesota couple posted their video to YouTube on July 19, it has been viewed over five million times. The video's popularity even landed the couple an appearance on the "Today" show on Friday.
On the show, the couple explained the routine's spontaneity and the dancers' minimal amount of time spent rehearsing.
"People were sort of making it up as they went, people just got really into it and went for it. We just gave them a general layout," Peterson said.
Peterson, who is credited with the idea for the extraordinary entrance, said that dance has always been a part of her life.
"I danced growing up and was a dancer through college and loved dance as a way to express yourself and share joy," she explained. "So it was something I always thought about doing."
The couple have certainly succeeded in expressing themselves, leaving millions of viewers with the opportunity to do the same.
