With Lady Gaga’s fish net mask, Katy Perry’s blue hair and Nicki Minaj bearing a striking resemblance to Little Red Riding Hood, you had to wonder – were designers ever consulted or had they raided a Halloween Adventure store instead?
Though the Grammys had their share of outlandish looks this year, elegant black seemed to be another favorite among artists on Sunday. And with the array of tributes for the legendary Whitney Houston, the color choice seemed apropos.
Rihanna, leaving little to the imagination, wore a black Armani dress with a plunging neckline. Alicia Keys, in Alexandre Vauthier, and Corrine Bailey Ray, in Christian Siriano, also donned the darker hue.
Jennifer Hudson arrived in an asymmetrical Versace gown but changed into black for a rendition of Houston’s famous “I Will Always Love You.”
Glittering numbers made some great statements this year. One of the night’s biggest winners, for music and fashion was Adele, in a sparkling black sequin Georgio Armani dress. Taylor Swift also followed suit in a glimmering gold Zuhair Murad gown. Along with Jennifer Lopez who wore a long-sleeved, very short, Emilio Pucci minidress.
Carrie Underwood, nominated for best country solo performance, was striking in a Gomez-Gracia long-sleeve white backless gown.
Though some attention-seeking artists may have used the Grammy’s to showcase their own peculiarity, there were many others that earned a spot on this year’s best-dressed list. Who do you think deserves the honors? View the complete photo gallery and send me your pick.
