This week in fashion: Transition seamlessly into spring

Though spring may be just around the corner, dipping temperatures here in the northeast may be hanging around for a while. So how do you perk up your winter wardrobe without ditching the essentials?

The new 2012 spring lines, slowly making their way to stores, are showcasing bold colors and vivid geometric prints. Adding some new pieces can help you transition into spring comfortably, without sacrificing warmth. Think bright sweaters, new jeans, and multicolored jewelry (not short, shorts and strapless dresses.)

Choose a colorful sweater from the array of new spring hues. There is a myriad of solids and stripes that could surely put a spring in your step. Pair this yellow and white striped crew-neck with skinny jeans or your favorite black pants for a sunnier look.

A geometric print blouse layered with your favorite cardigan is another great option that can ease you into the warmer weather. This silk pullover from Anthropologie is pretty, colorful and on sale!

Splurge on a new pair of jeans, but not in the usual shade of blue. The colorful pigmented jean trend is still going strong and can really breathe life into any outfit. Joe’s skinny jeans are made with elastic stretch denim and come in fifty-five colors so there is bound to be one that excites you and your closet.

Make a bold spring statement with jewelry. Whether you choose a bejeweled cuff, bright bangle, or a modern floral necklace, jewelry can add the perfect pop of color to any outfit.

This bubble necklace from J Crew is available in shades of turquoise, orange and red. Trendy and vibrant, pair it with your “go to” monochromatic suits or separates and make them oh so new again.

No need to commit to an entire spring wardrobe just yet. Adding a few elements, in seasonal colors, can warm up your look long before you’re bidding a final farewell to winter
