A Week of Thanksgiving Movies

Much anticipated films start to take over theatres this week.

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, food and best of all, the kickoff to the holiday film season. On Wednesday, the highly awaited biopic, Alexander, invades theatres. The Oliver Stone film--starring a long list of talented actors including Colin Farrell, Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie-- tells the story of Alexander the Great (Farrell), one of history's most powerful leaders who took over ninety percent of the world by the age of twenty-five.

Also setting us up for the Christmas season is the family comedy, Christmas with the Kranks, starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. The film is adapted from a John Grisham novel and portrays a Yuletide loving family's attempt to skip Christmas this year, only to find that it is virtually impossible to do so.

There you have it, two films that serve as an alternative to watching parades and football games after stuffing yourself silly. Next weekend, look out for Mike Nichols' Closer, starring Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Jude Law and Clive Owen.
