Weiland Pleads Innocent to DUI Charges

Scott Weiland pleads not guilty to DUI charges.

According to Reuters, band leader Scott Weiland pleaded innocent Wednesday to driving under the influence charges associated with his November arrest in Los Angeles.

The Velvet Revolver front man was arrested on Nov. 21, after his Mercedes hit another car and he refused to take a sobriety test. He was later released on $40,000 bail.

According to E! News, Weiland was required to complete a six-month treatment program in 2004 and was sentenced to three years on probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor DUI.Due to his prior conviction, the band leader could face a maximum sentence of up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine if he is found guilty.

Management for Velvet Revolver said that Weiland was not under the influence at his time of arrest and that a Breathalyzer test would prove his blood-alcohol level was "well within the legal limit."

Weiland is currently scheduled for a pretrial hearing April. 4.
