Weinstein Brothers Sue For "Crouching Tiger" Rights
Mystical Oscar nom the topic of a lawsuit this week.
If only they could argue it in mid-air!
The Weinstein Co., co-founders of Miramax and foreign-film developers par excellence, are taking their game into court with a lawsuit for the rights to five books including "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
Columbia Pictures had previously moved to develop the series of novels by Chinese author Wang Du Lu, but The Weinstein Co. maintains it had already bought the rights from Wang's heirs.
2000's "Dragon," starring Yun-Fat Chow and Ziyi Zhang, picked up the best foreign language Oscar and was nominated for best director, best picture and four others that year.
