Welcome Laurence Fishburne to the CSI Cast!

Laurence Fishburne will be joining the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as a forensics investigator, reports Reuters.com.

Reportedly, the actor best known for his roles as Cowboy Curtis on Pee-wee's Play House and then as Morpheus in The Matrix trilogy, will appear on the show during episode nine of the new season.

The funny thing is that Fishburne wasn't even a viewer of the show prior to his joining on. Fishburne admitted, "I felt a little stupid and embarrassed that I hadn't watched the show prior to having a meeting with them."

He goes on to say, "But I'm happy to say that the episodes that they sent me to look at were really, really engaging and really wonderful, and kind of dark and moody, like a lot of the work that I've actually been involved in."

It is also reported that Fishburne is a replacement for William Petersen who is leaving the show after being on it since 2000.

Fishburne will be portraying a college professor who was once a research pathologist, but unfortunately, the character is nameless.

Producers said that production is to begin next month and the episodes will more than likely air mid-December or early in 2009.
