Wentz Defends "Bronx Mowgli" Choice
After the media commented and ridiculed the name musicians Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz picked for their son, the Fall Out Boy bassist gave an interview to Ryan Seacrest in which he defended their choice of Bronx Mowgli.
Mowgli, according to Wentz, was chosen for the character in Disney's "The Jungle Book." He said the story was something that brought the couple together.
"The Jungle Book was something that me and Ashlee bonded over. It's a cool name," Wentz said.
Wentz remained unclear as to why they chose Bronx as their son's first name.
"We came up with the idea Bronx. We've been throwing [ideas] back and forth a while," he said. "It's kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is. People are stoked or pissed or whatever. And you're like, you know what: I don't think anyone really has the real story."
Seacrest asked if Wentz chose the name to give their son the initials, BMW, but Wentz denied that was a factor.
"No, no, no, it definitely is his name," Wentz said. "But I don't think anybody knows what the real story is of why or how."
Bronx Mowgli Wentz, who was born last week, is the first child for the couple, who was married earlier this year.
