‘Wet Hot American Summer’ prequel a possibility

The movie that launched the careers of today’s most popular comedians and actors may not be over. Director David Wain recently talked about his desire to do a follow-up project to his cult classic, Wet Hot American Summer.

“The prequel would be the same summer so they would by 20 years old for the part, yeah, but not younger,” he told Jeff Goldsmith on The Q&A Podcast. “So it would be 40-year-olds playing 16-year-olds. And yeah, we’re in the early stages of thinking about that.”

Wet Hot American Summer launched the careers of comedy giants Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Banks. The actors were already playing young in the movie, but can they pull off campers again?

According to Cinema Blend, Wain has also been in talks with Universal to release a 10 Year Anniversary Edition DVD/Blu-ray for the film, but the studio isn’t biting.
