The WGA Makes Deal With Grammys
The striking WGA has reached an interim agreement with the Grammy Awards. The Grammys were set to go ahead with or without writers, with many musicals artist agreeing to cross a picket line but it will not come to that. Last week the WGA said they would not picket the show and this week it seems they have come to an agreement with the Grammys producing staff.
According to the LA Times, the regular WGA staff that works on the Grammy's Ceremony will be on staff for the awards on February 10th. The Recording Academy, in charge of the Grammy's released this statement, "The Recording Academy is gratified by the WGA's decision to grant the interim agreement we requested for our milestone 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Having our talented writers on the team further ensures the highest level of creativity and innovation, something our audience has come to expect every year. Music fans worldwide can look forward to an amazing lineup of artists and performances on February 10, making our 50th anniversary show one of the most memorable ever."
As the Writer's strike grows past its third month many interim deals are being made with Movie and Television Companies. Many award shows have been cancelled but this might be a step in a direction to get award season back on track.
