What’s Up With ‘Pirates 4’?

Jerry Bruckheimer dishes on Depp’s return to the Caribbean .

Neither Orlando Bloom nor Keira Knightley will be there, but Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow and newcomer Penélope Cruz will be. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is set for a 2011 release, and will rely on newcomers to infuse new life into the franchise. MTV recently spoke with executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who revealed that Cruz will play Blackbeard’s daughter in the film, and that Blackbeard would be Jack Sparrow’s main nemesis.

Bruckheimer said that Cruz’s character “brings a lot of humor to it. And the fact that she's so feisty." He added that there will be “a little romance between [Depp's] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays."

Bruckheimer also gave some plot details, saying it’ll pick up where the last installment ended, with Sparrow’s searching for the fountain of youth. While this premise has been done before, the producer said that it would be done in a new way. Head over to MTV to watch a video interview with him.
