Beijing National Aquatics Center, nicknamed the Water Cube, was built exclusively for the 2008 Bejing Olympics. The building, which looks like a cube composed of water bubbles that serve as windows, was praised for its architecture. The building is adjacent to the Bird's Nest Stadium.
Most countries are unsure of what to do after the Olympics, especially after they spend millions for stadiums. Soon after the Olympic games, the building was opened to the public and it was also used to host a production of Swan Lake.
The Water Cube closed in October of 2009, and the building reopened last week as a water park. The remodeling process cost 200 million Yuan, which is equivalent to $50 million.
It is now the largest water park in Asia. The park features a wave pool, lazy river, spa area, and 13 water slides and rides.
Visitors can pay $30 to play in the same place where Michael Phelps won eight gold medals.
