What Shows May Return

What will happen to shows when and if the strike ends.

With rumors that the WGA strike will be ending as soon as next week, what does that mean for TV? Many shows have already run out of new episodes and have gone to reruns. Some networks held onto shows to premiere them later anticipating the strike.

However now that the strike is going to end Entertainment Weekly is reporting that many shows will try and get a few episodes out before May when most season finales air. However some shows may have a harder time than others, Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta told EW that he believes he can get four episodes down making the season a total of 17 episodes, but he is going to have to retool storylines because they were conceptualized for a 23 episode season.

Shows like Two and A Half Men, Back To You, Samantha Who and How I Met Your Mother may be able to get a full season out but this break may have deterred the creative process. Carter Bays, creator of How I Met Your Mother joked, "'It's been a long strike. I can barely remember all our characters' names, much less what we were planning to do with them. Is our show the one with Jim and Pam?" While Bays was joking, it may be hard to get back in the swing of the season. There are even shows like Heroes that may not come back before the end of the year because they won't have enough time to create an arc.

With the end of the strike still looming, time can only tell what will happen with any of these shows.
