Whatever Works, Might Not Work for You

Woody Allen's style - an acquired taste

The new movie "Whatever Works," starring Larry David, was written back in 70's by Woody Allen. The movie was held off when Zero Mostel, who would play the main character, died.

According to the Washington Post, the movie is a miss for Allen, among his many hits and misses in movies. David plays a former physics professor who calls everyone he meets an idiot. The downfall of the film is the lack of reality that comes out of Allen's fiction.

According to the California Chronicle, those who consider Allen's depiction of human nature will love the film. It all depends on one's ability to get what Allen is putting across to the audience.

Allen gives David's role a narrative approach that speaks directly to the camera, helping the audience to share his feelings. Evan Rachel Wood plays a runaway southerner who David's character eventually grows to like, the examiner.com reports.
