Where's Lifetime?

Dish Network vs. Lifetime Television

Leaving the step-brothers and their dad behind, mom and I traveled to her lake house for a girl's night in. We got comfortable, made popcorn and curled up in front of the television. Despite the fact that it's 70 degrees here in Florida, we lit a fire for effect and got ready to watch a movie on Lifetime Television.

Well, guess what? Lifetime is no more on Dish network as the blank screen had white letters at the bottom that said something about Lifetime unfairly asking for an increase, which would come out of our pocket - *?&#?

According to Dish parent, EchoStar Communications Corp., Lifetime requested an "exorbitant" 76 percent rate increase and EchoStar said no way! Although Lifetime offered to extend existing services throughout the holidays, again, that was a no go. And, therefore, there is no Lifetime for right now. Boo!

In response to EchoStar's statement, Lifetime spokesperson, Gary Morgenstein, stated, "While we don't negotiate in the media, their claim of an exorbitant demand is grossly exaggerated."

Who knows which party is to blame or when this thing will get worked out. All I know is, Lifetime Channel, which is jointly owned by The Walt Disney Co. and The Hearst Corp is MIA and speaking for most of us girls, we want it back, pronto!

Thank god we still get HBO!
