Whitney Houston was laid to rest today in Westfield, New Jersey in the Fairview Cemetery.

People Magazine reports that the legendary singer, whose cause of death is still unknown, was laid to rest next to her father John Russell Houston.

People also notes that like yesterday, fans lined the streets to pay tribute to the Bodyguard actress. Fans threw rose petals and screamed “We love you Whitney.” The crowd was much smaller than yesterday’s gathering at the church in Newark.

The guest list from yesterday’s funeral ranged from Alicia Keys to Stevie Wonder. Friends, family and fellow co-stars attended the funeral to give Whitney the proper send-off.

The crowd gathered to watch the gold hearse which carried Houston’s body but remained outside the gate as the burial was an invitation-only event.

"It is the same church service that will go on in so many churches across the country this morning ... and it was celebration, it was singing, it was praise for three hours." CNN producer and funeral attendee Raelyn Johnson said. "And it wasn't until the very end that you remembered that this was a funeral and a very sad day for a lot of people."
