Whitney Houston makes a comeback

Houston comes out with new album just before the start of fall and fans are anxious to see if she succeeds.

Pop diva Whitney Houston returns to the music industry after seven long grueling years. Music lovers are waiting to see whether Houston will be able to stand her ground when it comes to the new talent of today. Both Houston and Mariah Carey were set to release albums around the same time. That was a few months ago. After the success of Houston's single, "I look to You," her release date was pushed up to August 31.

Her Arista Records label is optimistic about her comeback. According to Reuters, the label's senior VP of marketing and artist development, Scott Seviour, says, "This is a cultural event. The enthusiasm and the energy for this release is palpable."

Her 2002, "Just Whitney," wasn't as successful as she had hoped it would be, but Houston is doing things differently this time like keeping a low profile. She is scheduled for an appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in September, which will be her "one big TV interview."
