Whitney Houston Resurfaces After Divorce

The determined diva takes her first public step away from Bobby Brown, and towards a renewed career.

After filing for divorce only two weeks ago, superstar Whitney Houston made her first public appearance, since the separation, Saturday night at a juvenile diabetes benefit in Beverly Hills.

"I feel great," Houston said.

The 43-year-old singer was escorted to the event by legendary producer and long-time collaborator Clive Davis, who said that the two are working on a new record.

"She's been through emotional trauma, and everybody's rooting for her," Davis said to USA Today. "We're going to make a killer album."

Houston joined actress Halle Berry at a dinner table and was recognized with a performance by "American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee.

"It's her first big appearance since the breakup," said McPhee, who performed a rendition of Houston's hit "I Have Nothing." "I would love to sing with her, but unfortunately, all eyes are on me."

Houston filed for legal separation from Brown last month. The couple were married in 1992 and have one daughter together, 13-year-old Bobbi Kristina. Houston asked for custody of Bobbi Kristina and visitation rights for Brown.
