The Who to tour for first time in quarter century

Rock legends The Who will be returning to the stage beginning Sept. 12 in Philadelphia, to promote its upcoming album.

It's been 25 years, but the legendary'70s rock band The Who will be talkin' 'bout their generation on stage once more.

Beginning Sept. 12 in Philadelphia, Who members Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick, bassist Pino Palladino, drummer Zak Starkey and singer-guitarist Simon Townshend will tour the U.S. and Canada before flying to South America, the Far East, Australia and Europe next year.

Destinations in North America include New York, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, Ore., Vancouver and Toronto.

The Who are planning to showcase their first studio recording since 1982, "Wire and Glass," which will be released Oct. 23, and will also perform "some rarities that we've not played for a long time," Daltrey told the Associated Press.

"I don't think I've ever looked forward to a tour as much as this one," Townshend said. "Roger and I are both fit and well, ready to rock."

Tickets go on sale July 17, although Who fan club members can pre-order tickets through Saturday night.
