Wii Remote Chargers Recalled by the Thousands
Most owners of the Nintendo Wii have no doubt, at least, considered buying a charger for the Wii remote because the batteries have a particularly short lifespan. However, two brands of these chargers have been recalled due to numerous reports of overheating. Between January 2008 and July 2009, there have been at least six reports of minor burn injuries resulting from overheating of brand name chargers Psyclone Essencials and React Wii 4-Dock Recharge Stations.
The units were sold at big-name retail stores such as Toys 'R' Us, Amazon.com, and Best Buy for around $50. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has asked that owners do not use these, and may send them back for a free replacement. So far, around 220,000 units have been recalled.
