Will "American Idol" Replace Paula Abdul with Guest Judges?

Several female vocalists are rumored to be guest judges on "American Idol."

While rumors of Jessica Simpson guest judging on "American Idol" are being shot down, several other famed vocalists are being rumored to fill-in Paula Abdul's former chair for an episode, reports MTV.com.

Mary J. Blige, Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham have all been confirmed as guest judges for next season's "American Idol," and Shania Twain is rumored to be on the show as well. According to reports, Twain will join the rest of the "Idol" judges in Chicago on August 30, according to People.

These guest spot rumors come amidst rumors that Paula Abdul wants to return to "American Idol," Rolling Stone reports. Abdul was widely expected to be a contestant on the next season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," though after the full roster was released earlier today minus her name, speculation has arisen that the former pop star wants to return to the show that returned her to stardom.
