Will Ferrell awarded Mark Twain Prize for American Humor

Will Ferrell was in Washington D.C. Sunday to receive the 14th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor award at the Kennedy Center.

CNN reported fellow comedians Conan O'Brien, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon and Jack Black were also present to honor the 44-year-old Saturday Night Live star.

The Hollywood Reporter added Green Day was also on hand to perform.

Ferrell left a lasting mark on SNL for his hilarious roles as former President George W. Bush, Alex Trebek, Spartan cheerleader Craig Buchanan, and Inside the Actors Studio's James Lipton.

Since leaving the comedy sketch show, Ferrell has starred in several hit comedies including Old School, Elf, Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

Previous Mark Twain Prize for American Humor winners include Steven Martin, SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels, Bill Cosby and Tina Fey.

The ceremony will air on October 31 at 9 p.m. EST on PBS.
