Will "Idol" Runner-Up Become the King of Queen?
Although Adam Lambert didn't win American Idol, he certainly captured the attention of British rock band Queen. Ever since Queen and Lambert performed together during the Idol finale, they have expressed a mutual interest in working together in the future, according to Reuters.com.
As the Reuters article reports, Queen did not have a chance to speak with Lambert because of all the excitement of the show's finale, but guitarist Brian May has since told Rolling Stone magazine that Queen would "certainly like to work with Adam." According to the Reuters article, Lambert reciprocated the interest, identifying Queen as one of his all-time favorite bands.
"I would love to work with him," Lambert said.
Queen has not had a permanent lead singer since Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991. Recently, the band ended its four-year partnership with Paul Rodgers, the former front man of bands Free and Bad Company.
May has told Rolling Stone that Queen will not rush into any major decisions regarding a new singer. However, Lambert, with his voice that May has deemed an "amazing instrument," remains a prime candidate for an eventual new front man of the legendary band.
