WIll Smith Supports Obama
Will Smith is in London for Hancock, his latest movie release, and while discussing the movie with reporters said he was happy to talk about Barack Obama, his own political superhero, reported the BBC.
He chooses those who receive his support carefully, Obama being one of the few people falling into that category. He also goes on to compare Obama to one of the great political leaders in the last 50 years, Nelson Mandela. He told BBC, "Nelson Mandela is the kind of person I've said yes to. And Barack Obama was probably only the second person that I've really to this level said yes to."
He went on to say that this is because Obama believes in the same things Smith does. He also said that people in his position, as an influential actor, should get involved with and try to influence people in politics.
"Individuals have to decide what they want to do," he told the BBC.
Also appearing in the movie with Smith, is Charlize Theron, who is able to vote for the first time this year. She was South African-born and unable to vote before. She told the BBC, "I'm very excited because what a really historical moment to be voting this year with someone like Barack Obama running."
