Prince William and his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, attended their first movie premiere on Sunday in London.

The royal couple arrived to the Odeon in Leicester Square in London for the UK premiere of War Horse to carry out charitable duties to benefit the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, which Kate is a patron. The foundation works to help the military.

William and Kate walked the red carpet at the event, sharing it with actors as well as Joey the horse. Six hundred members of the military were also on hand for the premiere. William, 29, held up an umbrella over him and his wife due to a slight drizzle. Other than the dreary weather, the royals were a hit, both personally and fashionably.

According to People, Kate, whose fashions often catch the eye of many, wore a floor-length lace dress designed by Alice Temperley and wore her own personal jewelry. William, meanwhile, looked dapper in a formal tux and bow tie.

The couple had a duty of meeting with the film’s director Steven Spielberg, as well as the cast and crew.

While Steven Spielberg told the BBC it was a “very prestigious honor” to have a royal premiere, the lead actor in War Horse, Jeremy Irvine, said it was just a “thrill” to have the royals present.

"The fact that they're here to watch my fat face on a cinema screen is bizarre," Irvine joked. "It's such a thrill. And also for their charity. It's a great cause."

Kate, who has an even bigger celebration coming, her 30th birthday on Monday, and William, had their first red carpet experience together last summer when they visited the U.S. Although it wasn’t a movie premiere, they attended the BAFTA event where they mingled with big name stars.
