Winehouse Doesn't Want to Ditch Husband
As Lenny Kravitz once sang: It ain't over until it's over.
Or at least that seems to be the case with troubled couple Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil. Despite multiple signs that their short marriage was coming to a fast close, such as Winehouse openly cavorting with another man and Fielder-Civil filing for divorce from his jail cell, Winehouse claims that she is waiting for her husband, according to a new interview with British tabloid the Sun.
"I still love my Blake, I won't let him divorce me," says the British singer during a conversation at her tourist villa on the island of St. Lucia.
Fielder-Civil, who married Winehouse in May 2007, is currently serving time in a British prison on drug charges. A week ago, he was reported as having asked his lawyer to seek a divorce after various gossip magazines ran stories about a fling taking place between Winehouse and aspiring actor Josh Bowman on St. Lucia.
Winehouse confirmed that an affair was taking place in interviews. Although, according to the Sun, Bowman has denied it and made several disparaging public remarks about her estranged husband, claiming that she was glad to be moving on.
To clarify what seems to many to be an abrupt change of heart, Winehouse offers an explanation of sorts, saying, "While Blake is in jail I'm still gonna have a good time - he can't do much about it. But once he comes out we'll be together again. There's some nice lads here, I am just having fun. I don't want anyone else because I've got my Blake."
In fact, Winehouse blames her prolonged stay at an all-inclusive resort in St. Lucia on Fielder-Civil. "While Blake is in jail I don't want to go back to Britain," she explains. She has been on the island since mid-December.
Winehouse and Fielder-Civil are both notorious in the media for their histories with drug abuse and have both been arrested on various drug charges in the past.
