Winehouse Innocent
Amy Winehouse was found not guilty of assaulting a dancer at a charity ball last year, Reuters reports.
The 25-year-old singer was accused of punching dancer Sherene Flash in the face backstage at the Prince's Trust Ball in Berkeley Square, central London in September. Winehouse had gone to the event to support her goddaughter who was performing there.
On Thursday, District Judge Timothy Workman said he could not be sure that the punch was not an accident after hearing all of the evidence from witnesses. The charge was dismissed.
According to BBC News, Judge Workman said all but two of the witnesses were drunk at the time of the incident, when Flash's friend tried to get into a photo with Flash and Winehouse.
Winehouse said the incident was blown out of proportion.
"She has always maintained her innocence and is very happy to move on with her life and put the episode behind her," a spokesman for Winehouse said.
