Woody Allen Immortalized as a Statue?
While filming Vicky Cristina Barcelona in the Spanish city of Oviedo, members of Woody Allen's cast discovered that he'd been immortalized in the form of a bronze statue, and apparently no one else got the memo, WENN reports.
While exploring the city one night, stars Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Scarlett Johansson accidentally stumbled upon their filmmaker's statue. Apparently in 2002, it was made as part of the city honoring him with its Prince of Asturias cultural award. But to cast members, it was new and amusing news.
"We went out one night in Oviedo and we ran into this bronze sculpture of Woody. They love him," explains Cruz. And in case their leader forgot what he looked like as a piece of metal, the cast got him a souvenir.
Says Cruz: "We took pictures with the sculpture, hugging it, and gave the photos to Woody."
