World Peace Ð Or Not . . .
I recently read an article on ToTheCenter.com about world peace. The person who wrote the article, whose name was not on the Web site or the linked Web site, was suggesting that peace is up to us. As a public, we should strive for world peace, instead of leaving it up to the governments.
I am not trying to disrespect anyone's beliefs, but I do not agree with this author. In my opinion, world peace can never be achieved.
"The essence of government does not lend itself to peace, but the essence of human nature does," the author said. It seems to me, that we as humans created government. So if we were so peaceful, why would government not be the same?
"Their quest for prosperity only involves more of the same. It doesn't even occur to them to want the things that are in another far off land," the author said.
Everyone wants what they cannot have. It's why you want the fancy car, job, diamond ring, the good-looking girl or guy that's married. And once you have gotten the thing that you want, you naturally want more. It is human nature.
The same goes for naturally wanting peace. If that was the case, human beings would have died off thousands of years ago, or would be at the bottom of the food chain. In order for survival to exist, there must be some conflict. I am not saying that wars must always be raging, and that people must always be dying at the hands of another, but no one is perfect. Until people are perfect, negative emotions will play part in the lives of all living things.
