Wow, There's a New Mozart Piece
The old saying is true: Everything old is new again, even when it comes to classical music.
A new musical composition penned by 17th century music prodigy Mozart has been found, reports nytimes.com.
According to BBC, the single sheet of music containing the never before seen 15-measure medley was found in the archives of the Mediath?que library in Nantes (western France).
Ulrich Leisinger, leader of research at the International Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, helped to authenticate the finding and concluded, "His handwriting is absolutely clearly identifiable."
The foundation also said on its Web site that the piece is datable to around 1787, making it well over 200 years old and in the timeframe of the composer's life.
The new find was in a collection that was left to the city of Nantes by painter Pierre-Antoine Labouch?re, who lived from 1807 to 1873.
A person can imagine that Mozart, who wrote hundreds of compositions in his life, would be entertained, to say the least, to know that he is still making news in the music world almost 217 years after his death in 1791.
