X-Files Director and Producer Died

Prolific producer and director passed away in Los Angeles.

Yahoo News reports that Kim Manners, a producer and director on the Fox series "The X-Files" died of complications from lung cancer in Los Angeles January 25.

Manners produced almost 160 episodes of the hit show and directed more than 50. He received four shared Emmy nominations during time. According to popeater.com, he also directed episodes of "Charlie's Angels," "Simon & Simon," and "21 Jump Street."

He began his career in 1971 as second assistant director on the movie "Valdez is Coming," which was produced by his father, Sam Manners. Working in Hollywood runs in the family as his brother, Kelly, is the line producer on the new Fox series "Dollhouse" and his sister, Tana, is a first assistant director.

Before his death, Manners was a director and executive producer on the CW series "Supernatural."
